AFRICA/CAMEROON - Inaugurated new Medicine Dispensary and Outpatient’s Clinic at Bikok mission served by Dominican Sisters Daughters of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in Pompei

Bikok (Fides Service) - Mgr Pasquale Mocerino Vicar General of the Shrine dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary in the southern Italian town of Pompei is in Cameroon with the Mother General of the Dominican Sisters Daughters of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Sister Maria Angelica Russo and a few other Sisters, a deacon and a layman to visit the Mission of Bikok served by the Sisters of this Italian congregation. The delegation, sent by the Bishop of Pompei Carlo Liberati, is in Africa for the inauguration of a new Medicine Dispensary and Outpatient’s Clinic built with offerings made by visitors to the Shrine of Our Lady of Pompei. The secretary of the Nunciature in Cameroon and the local civil vice-prefect were also present for the ceremony. Present in Africa since 1995, the Sisters of Pompei founded by Blessed Bartolo Longo, also run a kindergarten. At present there are three of them in Bikok: Sr Maria Adalgisa, Sr Maria Domenica and Sr Maria Sabina. Inspired by the call of the late Pope John Paul II to serve the beloved continent of Africa, the nuns are totally dedicated to offering the local children and families concrete and spiritual help.
