Kinshasa (Agenzia Fides) - On the occasion of the nativity of the Virgin Mary on 8 September, the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (CICM) welcomed 14 new members in Kinshasa. After a year of novitiate, these young people entered their first religious profession. This took place during a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Charles Phukuta, superior general, who came from Rome.
In his exhortation, Father Charles recalled the humble beginnings of the Virgin Mary and invited the newly professed to imitate her. "As religious missionaries we are called to a life of service; a service that consists in doing the ordinary things of life with extraordinary love. Never forget the ordinary things you can do to be at the service to others".
Fr. Charles took the opportunity to invite all CICM missionaries of the Democratic Republic of Congo to return to the sources of their charism and spirituality, in view of an interior renewal of their religious family. He invited them to make CICM communities spiritual oases where souls who are thirsty for God will come to draw strength in a fruitful and loving encounter with Christ.
The 14 newly professed are of Congolese, Cameroonian, Senegalese, Haitian and Zambian nationalities. They will soon begin their theological studies to continue their formation. (P.M.P.) (Agenzia Fides, 10/9/2020)
