AFRICA/NIGERIA - Appointment of the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Fr. Solomon Patrick Zaku

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On February 27, 2020 Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Fr Solomon Patrick Zaku, of the diocesan clergy of Maiduguri as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Nigeria, for a five-year period (2020- 2025).
The new National Director was born on April 7, 1982 in Potiskum, Yobe State, and was ordained a priest on July 9, 2010. After attending St. Joseph Minor Seminary in Adamawa state, he studied philosophy at St. Thomas Major Seminary in Makurdi, and theology at St. Augustine major Seminary in Jos. He continued his studies at the "Floating Institute of Missiology" in Onitsha and the "Seminar and International Conference on Missionary Formation" in Rome. He has held various positions: parish priest, chaplain and deputy director of the diocesan PMS, Director of the PMS of the diocese of Maiduguri, national Coordinator of the PMS-Propagation of the Faith.
