Washington (Agenzia Fides) - Latin America reacts united to the situation which unfortunately is taking place these days in the United States of America after the death of George Floyd. Agenzia Fides received from the Presidency of CELAM the letter sent to Archbishop Jose H. GÓMEZ, Archbishop of Los Angeles and President of the Bishops of the United States, on the murder of George Floyd. "We share with you that rejection of a senseless and brutal killing, a sin that cries out to heaven for justice", reads the text. "Neither in the United States nor anywhere else in the world should such acts take place. We appeal not "to stop listening to what people say through their pain "and cut off once and for all the roots "of racial injustice that infects many areas of society", it reads.
All this happens today, after the funeral of George Floyd, in front of many young people with the fear of Covid 19, in front of President Trump who speaks of terrorist violence with the Bible in his hand and in front of Catholic Bishops who continue to appeal to reconciliation and solidarity.
