Lyon (Agenzia Fides) - On May 26, Pope Francis authorized the publication of the decree recognizing the miracle attributed to the venerable Pauline Jaricot (1799-1862), thus opening the way for her beatification (see Fides, 27/5/2020). This lay French woman was endowed with an exceptional missionary charisma, which led her to give life to the movement of the Living Rosary and the Society of the Propagation of the Faith.
The National Direction of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of France, in a dossier for the circumstance, sent to Fides, underlines: "Already named patroness of the missions by Pope Francis in October 2019 during the Extraordinary Missionary Month, Pauline Jaricot joins other great figures of Lyon such as Father Antoine Chevrier or Frédéric Ozanam". For this occasion, the PMS have prepared a website dedicated to the discovery of their foundress of Lyon, thus offering everyone the opportunity to meet "the ardent spirituality of this woman" at the service of evangelization of the world.
The Pauline Jaricot website http://paulinejaricot.opm-france.org/ is a portal that allows anyone to discover the modern and stimulating character of this exceptional secular figure, full of inventiveness to bring the Gospel message all over the world, starting from poor families around her. "Deeply rooted in prayer, Pauline managed to invent the first social missionary network", underline the PMS of France. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 3/6/2020)
