Beni (Agenzia Fides) - "Volunteer soldiers of God", a religious woman shares what is experienced due to the coronavirus in the Beni area, Bolivia. In the face of the pandemic, Sister Gabriela Guibarra, Director of the Missions of the Apostolic Vicariate of Beni, joined the group "Volunteer Soldiers of God", to help, together with a large group of Catholic volunteers, people in need.
Sharing her testimony with Fides about the difficult situation in this area due to Covid-19, she recalls that Beni has over 1,900 registered cases of people tested positive for coronavirus. At a National level, this area is the second with the highest number of infections after Santa Cruz.
The situation in Beni, particularly in Trinidad, is worrying because there is little commitment, lack of coordinated work, poor effectiveness and credibility on the part of the authorities; there are promises, but they are not reliable; doctors, nurses and health workers do not have the basic biosecurity inputs and, although they have already made their voices heard in different parts of Bolivia, their requests have not yet been met with the seriousness that the case deserves.
