Jaen (Fides Service) - To make more information available to more people with regard to the Church and church activities in and around Jaen in Peru, the Apostolic Vicariate of Jaen has launched its own web sitewww.vicariatojaenperu.org. it is hoped that the initiative planned and launched by the Vicariate’s Social Communications office will boost the activity of the Church in this forest region of Peru, enable church workers to be more efficient and help local Catholics grow in their faith.
The web page gives information on the organisation and history of the vicariate, the places of mission and work of the different pastoral sectors. If offers links to various Catholic Internet sites, such as the Jesuits, a society of religious present from the beginning in this part of the country. The site also promotes a local Church campaign Obolo de la Misión de San Francisco Xavier aimed at reducing the extreme poverty of the rural native communities.
