Accra (Agenzia Fides) - "We are also to take precautionary measures in our homes not to be infected. Let us pray for a solution to this problem. Thank you", said His Exc. Mgr. John Bonaventure Kwofie CSSp, Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, in announcing the postponement of the Archdiocesan Youth Day scheduled for 27-28 March, 2020 in Kordiba, a city close to the capital of Accra. The decision was made after Ghana registered 2 coronavirus cases on March 12th.
Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman-Manu said: "The laboratory results of the two confirmed cases were received simultaneously by the Noguchi institute for medical research. Both individuals had returned to Ghana from Norway and Turkey". The minister assured the people that the government and healthcare facilities continue efforts to combat COVID-19. The two imported cases of Covid-19 coronavirus are in fact foreign nationals. One is a senior official from the Norwegian embassy in Ghana, while the other is a Turkish citizen.
