Abidjan (Agenzia Fides) - "Catholic Christians in Ivory Coast are in a situation where reconciliation is essential", said His Exc. Mgr. Ignace Dogbo Bessi, Bishop of Katiola and President of the Ivorian Bishops’ Conference at the beginning of Lent.
In these forty days of penance, sharing and almsgiving, Mgr. Ignace Dogbo Bessi exhorts the faithful Ivorian Catholics to be ambassadors of reconciliation: "The time of Lent invites us to practice our justice through three great projects of God on us, almsgiving, prayer, fasting, but for the Catholic of the Ivory Coast I would like the period of Lent to be a time for him to try to live for Christ; be the ambassadors of Christ for reconciliation. "He then added that "for Lent 2020 the Catholic must present himself as an ambassador of Christ so that he exercises the ministry of reconciliation through the word".
According to Archbishop Bessi, if Catholics during this period of Lent tried to live all of this, they will have gained a lot and will help the country to enter the process of reconciliation so sought after for the future of the nation. (S.S.) (Agenzia Fides, 29/2/2020)
