Blantyre (Agenzia Fides) - "The meeting helped us to better plan and prepare for the year of the Bible", said the National Director of the PMS, Fr. Vincent Mwakwawa, at the end of the planning meeting of the biblical year, held at the Nantipwiri Pastoral Center in the Archdiocese of Blantyre. The meeting was attended by members of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS), Pastoral Coordinators and members of the Malawi family apostolate.
The participants, from the eight dioceses of the Country, also discussed the preparation of the Epiphany feast that will be celebrated on January 5th next year in the diocese of Karonga, in the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Worker.
"It was also a way to understand how the PMS can help take care of families, in particular to train parents as teachers, and how to transform a family into a mission school", added Fr. Mwakhwawa.
Another important meeting was the National Annual General Meeting of the Catholic Women Organization (CWO) held at DMI University main campus from 12 to 15 December in the Diocese of Mangochi.
Bishop Montfort Stima of the Diocese of Mangochi who is also Vice Chairperson for ECM’s Pastoral Commission officially opened the AGM and urged women to answer God’s call to holiness.
Bishop Stima was joined by the Bishop Chairperson of the Pastoral Commission in Malawi Rt. Rev. Peter Musikuwa during the Eucharist celebration advised women to be agents of peace, justice and to have love for the poor in the country.
Mgr. Musikuwa also asked the women of the CWO He also challenged the CWO members to use the social media properly saying the platform should be an instrument to bring salvation to people and not enticing them to sin against the will of God. National Chaplain for the laity, Father Vincent Mwakhwawa commended the works of CWO in Malawi in all the eight dioceses.
Chairperson of CWO in Malawi, Lucy Vokhiwa disclosed that during the meeting, CWO members will conduct study sessions on topics such as the Encyclical Laudato Sì; the care of the vulnerable in society; the missionary work of Catholic women. (Agenzia Fides, 17/12/2019)
