AFRICA/GHANA - A campaign to call for support for the Catholic Auditor General of the Republic of Ghana

Accra (Agenzia Fides) - A campaign to call for support for the Catholic Auditor General of the Republic of Ghana Mr. Daniel Yaw Domelevo is underway, who is the subject of a series of investigations by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), body of the Ministry of Justice in charge of fighting organized crime and financial crimes.
Mr. Daniel Yaw Domelevo was appointed and sworn into office as the Auditor-General of Ghana on 30 December 2016 by president John Dramani.
Upon assuming office, he has helped the Country to retrieve several millions of cedis (Ghanaian currency), from the government payroll and hold government institutions accountable and refund in some cases monies which are unjustified.
The campaign in support of Domelevo is aimed at forcing the EOCO to stop its investigations from many considered unjustified against him, and to convince the government to stop interfering with the work of the Auditor-General.
The EOCO is investing him for alleged procurement badge which the Auditor General is incorrectly in court.
Most Ghanaians believe that it is the ruling party's way of pushing him to resign or to disdain his clear reputation.
Mr. Domelevo who is a Catholic and attends the St. Ignatius of Loyola parish in the Archdiocese of Accra has become a true Catholic icon who lives his faith in his duties as a public servant.
