Ouagadougou (Agenzia Fides) - "We implore your Mercy so that all the inhabitants of the continent may live as brothers and sisters who love each other". With this prayer, His Eminence Cardinal Dieudonné Nzapalainga, Archbishop of Bangui, consecrated Africa to the Merciful Heart of Jesus in the closing Mass of the 4th Congress of Africa and Madagascar on Divine Mercy, which was held in Ouagadougou (see Fides 20 and 21 November 2019).
Cardinal Nzapalainga, representative of Pope Francis and presided over the closing Mass, summarized the results of the Congress before the 1200 participants: "We received many graces, through teachings, moments of prayer, adoration , the prayer of the rosary of Divine mercy, moments of reflection in places of fragility: hospitals, prisons, IDP camps, orphanages, parishes".
"Divine Mercy has revealed the beauty of the family of God in Africa, Madagascar and Burkina Faso. He also called on the international community to combat the traffic and circulation of weapons that sow desolation and violence in Africa. He also made a strong appeal to the men who work in the background to lay down their arms and show proof of forgiveness and reconciliation". The next Congress will be held in Gabon in three years.
