Dar es Salaam (Agenzia Fides) - "The pastoral visit of the President of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the world, His Exc Mgr. Giampietro Dal Toso, is a sign that the local church of Tanzania is in communion with the Universal Church", declared the President of the Conference, His Exc. Mgr. Gervas John Mwasikwabhila Nyaisonga, Archbishop of Mbeya, during the closing Mass of the Extraordinary Missionary Month (see Agenzia Fides,11/11/2019).
"Missionary activity is not limited to a month but a daily activity. Hence, this climax signals the beginning of our lifelong commitment to evangelization for the betterment of the world and salvation of the people", said Mgr. Nyaisonga.
"Furthermore, the presence of the National Directors of English Speaking Africa (NDESA) for their continental meeting was a clear sign that there is coordination and close collaboration in laying strategies for future evangelization among the Pontifical Mission Societies animators", says the National Director of the PMS in Tanzania, Fr. Jovitus Mwijage
At the NDESA meeting the diocesan and national directors and the rectors of the major seminaries discussed three topics. The first concerned the sacraments and the Missio ad gentes. The participants emphasized the role of catechists in evangelization and the importance of evangelization through families. The second topic was interreligious dialogue. The last topic was the importance of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Evangelization. (J.M.) (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides, 18/11/2019)
