ASIA/HONG KONG - Jesuit Fr. Deignan underlines importance of ethics in economy

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - “Besides promoting human values the Institute stresses the importance of ethics in economy” said Jesuit Fr. Alfred Deignan, board chairman of the International Institute for Education and Work in Hong Kong on the occasion of the annual meeting held at Wah Yan College, Kowloon recently.
According to Hong Kong diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao in a brief report on the past year of activity Fr Deignan said the Institute had helped the International Association for Ethics in Economy promote economic ethics in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. In 2005 the Institute organised a Seminar on “An Introduction to Fundamental Human Values”. In the future the Institute intends to form students who are ready to assume responsibility “society needs leaders who give maximum attention to ethics”.
The International Institute for Education and Work was founded in 1997 in Hong Kong to promote and develop basic human values. It organises courses for young people, adults, and professional categories such as teachers. (Agenzia Fides 10/02/2006 Righe: 22 Parole: 211)
