AFRICA/GABON - Appointment of the Rector of the Saint Augustin Major Seminary in Libreville

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On July 30, 2019 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed the rev . Yves-Edgard Pambou, of the diocesan clergy of Mouila as Rector of the "Saint Augustin" interdiocesan Major Seminary in the Archdiocese of Libreville, Gabon.
The new Rector was born on September 18, 1971 in Tchibanga and was ordained a priest on June 8, 2008. In 1994 he entered the Saint Augustin Major Seminary in Libreville, he studied philosophy at the Spiritan Daniel Brottier international Major Seminary. After a year of pastoral work, from 1998 to 2001 he studied theology at the UCAC in Yaoundé, Cameroon. From 2004 to 2009 he studied in Rome, at the Pontifical Gregorian University, where he obtained his doctorate in Church History. He was assistant parish priest and parish priest, vicar general of the diocese of Mouila, professor at the Faculty of Theology of the UCAC, as well as private secretary and delegate of the rector, member of GRFCAC (Research Group Faith and Culture in Central Africa).
