School reform: Bishops express concern

Cochabamba (Agenzia Fides) - Concern and closeness to migrants was expressed by the Catholic Church of Bolivia on the occasion of National Day for Migrants and Refugees, celebrated on September 8th. The Pastoral Care of Human Mobility organized an international and intercultural gastronomic fair in which the migrants themselves were protagonists, as part of the fundraising activities to continue its work at the service of migrants and refugees arriving in Bolivia.
According to information from the Bolivian Bishops' Conference (CEB), sent to Fides, Mgr. Oscar Aparicio, Archbishop of Cochabamba and Vice President of the CEB, during his homily in the Cathedral expressed concern and closeness to migrants, highlighting the situation of those arriving from Venezuela, that of young migrants who leave their countries to go to study, politicians forced to leave their country, those who seek better living conditions and leave the countryside for the city.
The auxiliary Bishop of La Paz and general secretary of the CEB, Mgr. Aurelio Pesoa, read the statement issued at the end of the meeting of the permanent episcopal councils of the Conferences of Chile, Peru and Bolivia, held in Lima on 3 and 4 September, in which the governments and the respective public agencies of the States involved are asked to "analyze public policies in depth that must be implemented in a coordinated manner to respond to the phenomenon of migration".
"In these days - says the document of the three Bishops' Conferences - we were able to reflect and verify the serious migration situation of great proportions that exists in our countries, in particular for our brothers from Venezuela". They therefore express "closeness and solidarity to the Venezuelan people, who in recent times have suffered from difficult economic, social and political conditions", thus renewing their gratitude towards the institutions of the Catholic Church for their commitment to welcome "our brothers who seek better prospects of work and security ", appreciating "in particular the efforts of many people who have dedicated their time and resources to serving those who suffer from the most difficult migratory conditions".
