Rome (Agenzia Fides) - Nearly six hundred Coptic Christian boys and girls gathered in Rome to attend the XIX conference of young people belonging to the Coptic communities in Europe. The meeting is hosted at “il Carmelo” Reception Center, in Sassone. The days of spirituality, prayer and reflection began on 29 August and will end on Sunday 1 September. The program is marked by conferences and moments of dialogue with representatives of the Coptic episcopate, including Anba Moussa - bishop responsible for youth pastoral of the Coptic Orthodox Church - and Anba Barnaba al Suryani, Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Rome. Bishops and priests from the communities of the Coptic Orthodox diaspora in Europe are also participating in the gathering, along with Egyptian engineer Ibrahim Samak, adviser to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al Sisi and known for his contribution to the development of the green economy and to the systems of exploitation of renewable energy in Germany.
The conference of Coptic youth in Europe is one of the most important activities promoted by the Coptic Orthodox Church outside Egypt. (GV) (Agenzia Fides, 31/8/2019)
