EUROPE/IRELAND - Appointment of the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Fr. John Kilcrann, CSSp

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 10 May 2019, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Fr. John Kilcrann, of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, CSSp, as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Ireland for a five-year period (2019-2024).
The new National Director was born on 4 May 1948 in Mohill (Ireland) and was ordained a priest on 6 June 1976. In January 1978 he arrived in Brazil, where he carried out his pastoral ministry in the dioceses of Marilia and Registro, San Paolo State, both as parish priest and at a regional level, also for his congregation. After his studies at Fordham University in New York (1987/88) he returned to Brazil and resumed pastoral work. He founded and directed the SEJUP, Brazilian Service of Justice and Peace, and held various positions at a national level. From 2000 to 2009 he was at the head of the Service of the Spiritans "Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation". He carried out the same service in Ireland from 2010 to 2012.
