Mexico City (Agenzia Fides) - The Archdiocese of Mexico invites those who form the Catholic Church to remain united after the difficult moments experienced in recent days. In the editorial of the weekly "Desde la Fe", sent to Agenzia Fides, the Archdiocese says that the Church will be able to move forward, as happened in the past, despite the storms. "It was the falls of the Church that allowed us to understand that it is not only a human and sinful institution, made up of fragile human beings, but divine, even more, holy, by virtue of having been founded by Christ, who is Holy", says the editorial.
On the Church there are not only accusations circulating, amplified through social media, concerning pedophilia, but lately in Mexico, with the violent death of a student (see Fides 14/06/2019) of which a priest was accused, an attempt was made to negatively connote the commitment of all consecrated members. Faced with this situation, the editorial writes: "As happened in other times, the complex reality, beyond the news circulating in newspapers and videos, requires an indivisible unity from the Church. This is the first element on which we must work today: the unity of all the members, trying to understand, the role we deserve".
"With the grace of the Holy Spirit - the editorial concludes -, the Church is called to continue to nourish herself with prayer, the Word of God and the sacraments, especially the Eucharist, but also of love, because today's world demands a response of charity, not only in Mexico City, but throughout the world".
