EUROPE/SPAIN - The 72nd Missionology Week of Burgos: "Mission ad Gentes, future of the Church"

Burgos (Agenzia Fides) - The 72nd Spanish Missionology Week, which takes place at the Faculty of Theology in Burgos, will be dedicated this year to the theme "Mission ad Gentes, the future of the Church", 100 years after the Maximum Illud of Benedict XV, an anniversary that will be celebrated in a special way in the Extraordinary Missionary Month of October 2019.
The traditional academic appointment held since 1947 is organized by the Spanish Bishops' Conference, the National Direction of the Pontifical Mission Societies, the Archdiocese of Burgos and the Faculty of Theology of Northern Spain, headquarters of Burgos.
The works will be inaugurated, on the afternoon of Monday 1 July, by the Archbishop of Burgos, His Exc. Mgr. D. Fidel Herraez, and by the Dean of the Faculty of Theology, D. José Luis Cabria. The inaugural Conference of the Academic Week, on the theme "A Missionary Church led by Pope Francis", will be held by Archbishop Giampietro Dal Toso, Assistant Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and President of the Pontifical Mission Societies.
The program includes two conferences on the morning of Tuesday 2 July: "Keys of the Mission ad Gentes from the Maximum Illud" (D. Eloy Bueno) and "Religious Orders and Mission ad Gentes: the reception of the Maximum Illud" (Fr. Manuel Jesus Romero Blanco, OP). The session will be concluded by the Eucharistic celebration and the "Memory of the missionary martyrs". In the afternoon a round table will be dedicated to the religious orders created for the mission, with three testimonies of religious.
The conference on diocesan priests and the Mission ad Gentes (Fr. Gabriel Domingo Rodriguez) will open the works on Wednesday 3 July, and will be followed by a second conference on "Local Churches in the perspective of the Mission ad Gentes" (D.Luis M. Golkoetxea and D. Fernando Redondo Benito). In the afternoon a round table with the testimonies of priests of IEME, OCSHA and of the diocesan missions will take place.
On the morning of the last day, Thursday 4 July, the conference on the Laity and the Mission ad Gentes (Pilar Rodriguez) and the closing of the works is scheduled, with the conference on "People of God that go forth" (Dolores Garcia) and the concluding Eucharistic celebration.
