AFRICA/ZAMBIA - Appointment of the Rector of "Saint Augustine" philosophical Seminary in the diocese of Kabwe

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 7 February 2019, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed the Rev . Patrick Banda, of the diocesan clergy of Chipata (Zambia) as Rector of "Saint Augustine" inter-diocesan major philosophical Seminary in the Diocese of Kabwe, in Zambia.
The new Rector was born on 9 November 1975 in Petauke and was ordained a priest on 6 July 2003 for the diocese of Chipata. After attending St. Mary's Minor Seminary in Chipata, he studied philosophy and theology at the Saint Augustin Major Seminary in Mpima. He obtained a license in philosophy in 2012 at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome. Since his ordination he was parish administrator, parish priest, coordinator of the diocesan pastoral care. Since 2012 he was a member of the team of professors and formators of the Saint Augustin major seminary, where he served as rector since 2018. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 12/4/2019)
