Kinshasa (Agenzia Fides) - Among the testimonies of Congolese female figures, there is Léonie Kandolo, member and spokesperson of the Committee for the Coordination of the Laity (CLC), a body which was the protagonist during the last elections and organized marches and popular protests in favor of transparency and democracy.
As reported to Agenzia Fides, among the "50 inspiring women" for the Congolese society of today - 8 March - there is the Catholic Léonie, a graduate in management and marketing, with vast experience in the business world. For a long period she managed a print shop that employed at least 120 people.
As a Catholic and activist she was the co-founder of some movements and organizations, including the NGO "Protection Enfants Sida", committed to raising awareness on HIV/AIDS in hundreds of schools in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with several partners, such as UNICEF and the National AIDS Program.
Léonie recommends "an altruistic commitment of charity and integrity": "We must be guided by love, we must remain honest", she says in the note sent to Fides. (MP/AP) (Agenzia Fides, 8/3/2019)
