Bomana (Agenzia Fides) - A conference to revive the mission and take stock of the transformation of the educational communities promoted within the initiatives for the celebrations of the three hundredth anniversary of the death of Saint John Baptist de la Salle recently concluded in Rome. Among the various international initiatives that of the Lasallian community of Papua New Guinea stands out: on February 22 they celebrated the anniversary at the De La Salle school in Bomana, Port Moresby, which was attended by the various members of the Lasallian Family, the staff, students and former students.
"The De La Salle brothers touched the hearts of millions of children all over the world", said Archbishop Kurian Mathew Vayalunkal, Apostolic Nuncio of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands. "Brothers of different nationalities have offered their time and continue to use their energies for the education of hundreds of thousands of young people in Papua New Guinea".
"As a member of this institute, learn to become responsible and teach future generations what you have learned. Do not forget to find time for the poor and the marginalized", said the Nuncio, addressing the participants in Bomana.
Events and celebrations have been planned all over the world to honor this common heritage which offers a human and Christian education to the young, to the poor and promotes the vocations of the Lasallian Family. (AP) (Agenzia Fides, 27/2/2019)
