EUROPE/FRANCE - 30 ans ça suffit! 30 years of legalised abortion is enough! Pro-life demonstration in Paris solidarity from Spain

Friday, 20 January 2006

Paris (Fides Service) - A pro-life demonstration on Sunday 22 January to demand protection for life from the moment of conception and the abrogation of anti-life laws has been organised by forum 30 ans ça suffit! - which refers to 30 years of legalised abortion in France - comprising the main pro-family and pro-life associations in the country.
According to the Forum every year in France there are about 220,000 registered abortions. They say legalisation of abortion has led to more child abuse and a devaluation of human person, reduced to a mere object. Abortion is also a cause for the ageing population. The organisers denounce the fact that very often real figures are disguised by lies, misinformation and manipulation of public opinion. No figures are given on mothers who die during illegal abortion, nothing is said the terrible physical and psychic suffering caused by abortion to the mother, or about the rights of the human embryo...all this to ensure that consciences are anaesthetised. Aware of the situation the leaders of numerous pro-family and pro-life associations have decided to make the exact results of these 30 years of abortion public, to express opposition to abortion and to demand adequate family policies.
The organisers have called on similar Spanish associations to support the demonstration, according to María Luengo communications co-ordinator of the Spanish Family Forum FEF. In response to the request FEF has called for demonstrations of solidarity and support in front of French embassies and consulates in Spain during which a statement in defence of life and the family will be handed to the respective ambassador or consul. Official demonstrations of solidarity convoked for Sunday 22 January at midday in Madrid, Barcelona and Seville are expected to draw thousands of sympathisers.
