VATICAN - Cardinal Sepe appoints new Rector of the Pontifical Korean College in Rome

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 15 January appointed Rev. John Kim Jong-su of the archdiocesan diocese of Seoul. Rector of the Pontifical Korean College in Rome for a five year term
The new Rector was born on 26 May 1954 in Seoul (Korea) and ordained a priest for the same archdiocese on 25 February 1982. After ministering as assistant priest in two parishes (1982-84), he was sent to Rome to study for a Licentiate in Liturgy at St Anselmo Pontifical Institute for Liturgy (1984-89). On his return to Korea he was parish priest, a member of the special Liturgy Commission for the 44th international Eucharistic Congress in Seoul, under secretary of the Korean Bishops’ Conference CBCK, member of the Bishops’ Commission for Liturgy. Since 1993 principle editorialist of Seoul archdiocese weekly and since 2003 secretary of the Korean Bishops’ Commission for Liturgy. He has also been secretary and a member of several CBCK commissions and Conference secretary general. From 1997 to 2002 he was national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Korea and since 1996 professor at Seoul Catholic University. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 18/1/2006; Righe 15; Parole 203)
