Taipei (Fides Service) - “The Eucharist, source and summit of the life and mission of every Catholic parish and association is the title of a Pastoral Letter issued by the Taiwan Regional Bishops’ Conference. According to Christian Life Weekly issued by the archdiocese of Taipei the Letter dated 15 January reflects on the following themes: Eucharist, source of life; prolonging the fruits of the Year of the Eucharist; proper thanksgiving after Mass; making Adoration of the Eucharist a regular part of life; the Eucharist entrusts a mission; living communion as a fruit of Mass.
The letter reads: “The Bishops’ Conference wishes to prolong reflection started last year, to deepen devotion and love for the Eucharist which must be the principle theme of the activity of every Catholic parish and association and to render these realities vibrant and dynamic applying pastoral of evangelisation. The Sacrament of the Eucharist necessarily requires the ability to be with others”, in order to carry on “the mission Christ entrusted to us” in society. Like Mary who went immediately after the Annunciation to visit her cousin Elizabeth, “we have a mission entrusted to us in the sacrament of the Eucharist, through works of service.” The Bishops end the letter expressing the wish “that the Eucharist may bring abundant life of grace in this new year so our mission to evangelise may bear much fruit ”.
