AMERICA - Agenda 2006 includes preparatory meetings in view of 5th General Conference of CELAM May 2007

Rome (Fides Service) - The department for Ecclesial Communion and Dialogue of the Council of Latin American Bishops’ Conferences CELAM has organised for 2006 a series of preparatory meetings in view of the 5th General Conference of CELAM to be held in May 2007 in Brazil’s ‘Marian’ capital, Aparecida (São Paolo), at the national Marian shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida Patroness of Brazil.
The meetings include: Congress of Delegates of main Church Movements and new Communities in Latin America and the Caribbean, promoted jointly by the Pontifical Council for the Laity and CELAM 9 - 12 March 2006 in Bogota, Colombia: organiser Bishop Miguel Irizar Campos, Bishop of Callao, Peru; Meeting for parish and small communities delegates responsible for workings with the Commission for Basic Church Communities of the Bishops’ Conferences of Latin America and the Caribbean 24 to 26 May 2006 in Quito (Ecuador): organiser Bishop Sergio Gualberto Calandrina, auxiliary of Santa Croce de Sierra, Bolivia; Meeting of Biblical Study and Updating for Bishops of 22 Conferences of Latin America and the Caribbean organised jointly with CEBIPAL Biblical Centre, 12 - 16 June 2006 in Bogota, Colombia: organiser Archbishop Ubaldo Ramón Santana, Archbishop of Maracaibo, Venezuela. Meeting of ongoing formation for Bishops ordained more than five years ago members of 22 different Bishops’ Conferences, 23 - 27 October in Bogota, Colombia organiser Archbishop Ubaldo Ramón Santana.
