AMERICA/MEXICO - "Ad gentes" magazine: half a century of service to animation and missionary commitment

Mexico City (Agenzia Fides) - The Mexican magazine "Ad Gentes" celebrates its half-century of service to mission with a commemorative day which will take place tomorrow, October 2nd, in Mexico City. The magazine is an official publication of the Pontifical Mission Societies of Mexico which for 50 years, through its articles, all oriented to the mission Ad gentes, has as its objective animation, formation and missionary information, addressing young people and adults.
The historic-pastoral Day of October 2 intends to commemorate this half-century of activity for the mission carried out by the magazine.
The Day will include the main report of His Exc. Mgr. Giovanni Pietro Dal Toso, Assistant Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and President of the Pontifical Mission Societies, who will speak on the theme "A missionary Church for the man of today: action and prayer in our Pontifical Mission Societies". Some speeches will follow for a historical overview of the magazine. The morning will conclude with the presentation of a commemorative edition of the contemporary papal missionary Magisterium, by Cardinal Carlos Aguiar Retes, Archbishop of Mexico, and by the blessing of the Paul VI Missionary Library, by Archbishop Franco Coppola, Apostolic Nuncio. In the afternoon the President of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Archbishop Dal Toso, will preside the Eucharistic celebration in the Basilica of Santa Maria de Guadalupe.
On Wednesday 3 October, Mgr. Dal Toso will meet with the Permanent Council of the Mexican Episcopal Conference and, in the afternoon, with the diocesan Directors of the missions. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 1/10/2018)
