ASIA/INDIA - Appointment of the National Director of the PMS, Fr. Ambrose Pitchaimuthu

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 28 June 2018 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed the rev. Fr. Ambrose Pitchaimuthu, of the diocesan clergy of Chingleput as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in India for a five-year term (2018-2023).
The new National Director was born on May 3, 1966 in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and was ordained priest on March 25, 1993. He obtained a Masters in Philosophy at the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium) and a Ph.D. in the same subject at the Pontifical University. of S.Tommaso d'Aquino (Rome). He was Vice-parish priest and parish priest, vicar general for 7 years in his diocese of Chingleput and a member of the presbyteral Council and of the College of consultors. He is currently a parish priest and visiting professor of philosophy at the Sacred Heart Regional Seminary in Poonamallee. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 20/9/2018)
