Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 17 May 2018 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed the rev. Javier Alexis Gil Henao, of the diocesan clergy of Garzόn, as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Colombia for five years (2018-2023).
The new National Director was born on 24 June 1978 and was ordained a priest on 21 December 2002. He obtained a Licentiate in Missiology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University (2005-2008). He was Vice-parish priest and parish priest in several parishes; National Secretary of the Pontifical Society of St. Peter the Apostle and of the Pontifical Missionary Union (2011-2017); Director of the missionary animation department of the Colombian Episcopal Conference (since 2017).
