Hong Kong (Fides Service) - A successful Catholic Festival was recently organised by the Catholic Students Association at Hong Kong City University. The aim was to give non Christian students friends and benefactors an opportunity to learn more about Christianity and the Catholic Church. According to Hong Kong’s diocesan Kong Ko bulletin, seminars and meetings were well attended. Speakers included experts, professors and also non Catholic members of parliament. At the end of the Festival many students asked to join the Association.
The Students’ Association accepts Catholic and non Catholic members. One of its main aims is to share with faith with non Christian students. In fact the association also promotes courses of introduction to Christianity which are very popular.
The Association’s spiritual director Salesian Fr Paul Leung told Kong Ko bulletin that the association continues to grow and that many non Christian students are joining: out of 33 new members who joined this year, 14 were non Christians. Moreover a group of student members asked to follow the itinerary of Christian initiation in preparation for baptism. He said that more and more students choose the Association as a way to learn more about the Catholic Church. (Agenzia Fides 21/12/2005 Righe: 19 Parole: 176)
