Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 12 April 2018 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed rev. Fr. Patrick Simon Gomes of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Dhaka, as Rector of the "Holy Spirit" interdiocesan Major Seminary in the archdiocese of Dhaka.
The new Rector was born on January 9, 1966 and was ordained a priest on January 3, 1996 for the archdiocese of Dhaka. He went to the same Seminary where he has been appointed Rector. He obtained a license in Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical Urbaniana University (2002-2004). Among the positions held: he was Vice-priest in several communities; Rector of St. John M. Vianney Intermediate Seminary; Secretary and coordinator of the Episcopal Commission for youth; Coordinator of the FABC Youth Ministry Office; Prefect for studies at St. Joseph's Degree Seminary in Ramna and at the "Holy Spirit" Seminary of Dhaka, where he has been teaching Sacred Scripture since 2006.
