ASIA/JAPAN - Appointment of the National Director of the PMS, Fr. Joseph Naoki Momma

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 18 April 2018 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed, the rev. Fr. Joseph Naoki Momma, of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Tokyo, as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Japan for a five-year period (2018-2023).
The new National Director was born in Yagumo-cho, Japan, on December 23, 1977 and was ordained a priest on March 4, 2007 in the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Tokyo. In 2000 he obtained a baccalaureate in economics at the Rissho University in Tokyio, and in 2015 a Master in Code of Canon Law at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome. After his priestly ordination he was vice parish priest and parish priest, judicial vicar, personal secretary of the Archbishop, vice chancellor. Since 2016 he has been parish priest in the church of Tachicawa, in Tokyo. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 7/6/2018)
