Port Moresby (Agenzia Fides) - Training students in the use and techniques of mass media, to introduce them to the secrets of social communication, seen as a means to help the spread of the Gospel: this is the aim of the third Media Education Seminar, intended for Catholic students, organized in recent days in Bomana by the Episcopal Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands, and is intended for 50 students of seven local schools.
The program, edited by Salesian Fr. Ambrose Pereira, Director of the Communication Office, encouraged those present to reflect on the various aspects of their daily lives.
A session was focused on the radio and the basic elements for video editing, with a participation of "Radio Maria" radio station which gave young people the opportunity to record and publish the gingles created by the students. Talking in front of the camera and viewing their short speeches allowed the participants to speak before an audience. But the training was not just technical: "I understood that I am called to love life and live it to the full", declared a student at the end of the course. At the end of the three days of training, those present expressed satisfaction in the work of interaction and learning, in the awareness of being able to use mass media as instruments of evangelization.
