Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 25 January 2018, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed the rev. Fr. Bernardino Lazo Cardenas, of the diocesan clergy of Choluteca, as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Honduras for five years (2018/2023).
The new National Director was born on May 20, 1976 in Puerto Grande, municipality of Amapala, and was ordained a priest on December 6, 2003 for the diocese of Choluteca. After his primary and secondary studies, he carried out his priestly formation at the Paul VI minor Seminary and the Nuestra Senora de Suyapa major Seminary. After his ordination he was parochial vicar and parish priest; spiritual director at the Paul VI minor Seminary; appointed diocesan of the youth pastoral, of the celebration of the Word of God, of Caritas; vicar of pastoral care and social pastoral care.
