Santiago de Chile (Agenzia Fides) - "Being a papal volunteer is an invitation to be builders of a more beautiful Church and a better world" says Francisca José Miranda, one of the thousands of volunteers who came to help organize the visit that the Pope will carry out in the Country in January.
Francisca, who was also present at the meeting between the National Commission for the Pope's visit and Chilean President Michelle Bachelet, held yesterday, December 27, at the Palacio de La Moneda, was able to listen to the President who said: "The Supreme Pontiff’s visit in Chile will be a space for meeting and reflection for the Catholic world, and also for the entire country".
"Participating in the preparations for Pope Francis’ visit to Chile is an unforgettable experience - continues Francisca -. We continue to prepare our hearts with enthusiasm, joy and many prayers". The organizing committee explained that they are developing the last details of this visit, such as the elaboration of decorations, the choice of biblical texts, the choir rehearsals and the construction of 4,500 square meters of altars, where there will be hundreds of priests and bishops in the three cities included in the papal program.
"I am motivated to serve with joy in the place where I will have to work", says the volunteer, "and I hope that after the Holy Father’s visit, Chile will no longer be the same. I hope we can welcome all the message of peace that the Pope will bring us in the name of Christ. We must listen, interpret and above all put his words into practice", she concludes.
The National Commission for the visit of Pope Francis to Chile has announced that about 19,000 people have registered as volunteers to collaborate on this journey, which will bring the Holy Father to the cities of Santiago, Iquique and Temuco between 15 and 18 January .
