Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 6 June 2017 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed rev. Mgr. Esteban Lo, LRMI (Lorenzo Ruiz Mission Institute), of the Archdiocesan clergy of Manila as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in the Philippines for a five-year term (2017-2022).
The new National Director was born on October 16, 1963 and was ordained a priest on October 16, 1991. He studied Chinese in Taiwan and mainland China. Since his priestly ordination he has held various roles: Vice-priest (1991-1995), Scholastic chaplain (1992-1995), Dean of the LRMI seminarians (1995-1997), Parish priest (1998-2000), Rector and LRMI Moderator (2002-2012). He was also Episcopal Vicar for the foreign communities of the Archdiocese of Manila, Commissioner for the diocesan mission, Chaplain of the Order of Malta, a member of the College of Consultors, of the Presbyteral Council, of the Episcopal Commission for seminaries.
