ASIA/INDIA - Appointment of the Rector of the “Khrist Premalaya Regional Theologate Seminary” in Bhopal

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On October 11, 2017 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Fr. Arockiasamy Savarirayan, of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) as Rector of the "Khrist Premalaya Regional Theologate" interdiocesan Seminary in the archdiocese of Bhopal, in India.
The new Rector was born on 2 March 1966 in Allikondapattu and was ordained a priest on 30 April 1995. He obtained a Licentiate in Biblical Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University (1999-2002) and a Doctorate at the Angelicum (2007/2011).
After his ordination he was vice parish priest at the Cathedral of Indore, teacher and formator of the Juniores Verbites in Palta, then director of the Biblical Pastoral Center of Bhopal, coordinator of the biblical Apostolate for the central Indian province SVD. For 14 years he dedicated himself to the formation of seminarians, he was Vice-Rector and Dean of Studies at "Khrist Premalaya Regional Theologate".
