The Catholic Church in Mongolia has just recently celebrated 25 years of its presence. The first Catholic community was founded in the capital Ulaanbaatar only in 1992, shortly after the Mongol government had initiated diplomatic relations with the Holy See.
The Congregation of the Missionaries of Scheut or CICM (Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary) were asked to send some missionaries to the land of Genghis Khan.
