Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On August 9, 2017, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed rev. Kuriakose Poovathumkudy, of the diocesan clergy of Dibrugarh (India) as Rector of the "Oriens Theological College" Interdiocesan Seminary in the diocese of Shillong, India.
The new Rector was born on March 10, 1952 and was ordained a priest on April 17, 1982. He received his doctorate in Missiology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University (Rome) and his degree in Integrative Counseling (Kent, England). He carried out his pastoral ministry in three parishes of the Diocese of Dibrugarh as vicar and parish priest (1982-1989). Since 1994 he has been secretary, prefect, dean of studies, spiritual director, liturgy animator at the "Oriens Theological College". (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 9/10/2017)
