Durango (Agenzia Fides) - In the urban environments of the Country, there is a third generation of children and adolescents who are born in a street situation and who do not have a better life choice and do not know another reality. The alarm was launched by a recent study by the Autonomous National University of Mexico (UNAM). These are children born to parents who live in a street situation who at the time had decided to abandon their families because of poverty, physical, verbal or sexual violence, or because the national education system was unable to keep them at school.
All this is added to factors such as alcohol abuse and drug abuse in homes, lack of positive relationships, and a life project among family members. "The street, for some populations, is an option and a living space. Those who were once street children have extended their stay by giving birth today to a third generation born on the street and who does not know what a home base is", reads a statement sent to Fides by an scholar of the National School of Social Work.
