AFRICA/CAMEROON - Appointment of the Rector of "Saint Augustin" Major Seminary in Maroua

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On June 22, 2017 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed, rev. Alin Djeckabe, of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Garoua as Rector of "Saint Augustin" Interdiocesan Major Seminary in the diocese of Maroua-Mokolo, Cameroon.
The new rector was born on October 3, 1973 in Ouro Haoussa, department of Mayo Louti, northern region, and was ordained a priest on June 18, 2005 in the cathedral of Garoua. He entered "Saint Paul" Minor Seminary in Guider (1989-1997), then went to "Saint Augustin" Major Seminary in Maroua (1997-2005) and to the Catholic University of Lille (2007-2015) where he obtained his doctorate in Theology and Master in Philosophy. After his priestly ordination he was parish vicar in different parishes. Since November 2015 he was the parish priest of Coeur Immaculé de Maria of Bidzar parish and professor at "Saint Augustin" Major Seminary in Maroua; Since 2016 coordinator of the presbitery.
