Maumere (Agenzia Fides) - On the occasion of the feast of San Camillo, just celebrated, the Camillians of Indonesia inaugurated a new theology seminary in Maumere, Flores Island. The Camillian Mission began in Flores in 2009, with the main objective being the formation of candidates for religious life. "We have had good results: four priests, three temporary professed, nine novices and about sixty students of philosophy", says to Fides Fr. Luigi Galvani, MI. "At present, they are present in three dioceses: Maumere and Ruteng on the island of Flores with two formation centers for philosophy students and a social and outpatient center in Kupang, Timor island, with a second project in favor of young students in need of special attention and formation. Their encouraging development is certainly due to the support of Providence, but also to such good will and the power of prayer. 'Everything is possible for those who believe', said their founder, San Camillo. The new two-story theological building was built in the space of 6 months, will accommodate about thirty professed religious in single rooms. They will attend the nearby Theological Institute of the Ledalero's Missionaries, considered the largest Philosophical and Theological Seminary of Asia with its nearly a thousand students. Because of the presence of many religious institutes, the area is called the 'little Vatican' of Flores. So many religious congregations wish to open up communities, thanks also to the cordial welcome of local bishops who see their dioceses so enriched with new charisms", Father Luigi concludes.
