AFRICA/CAMEROON - New rector appointed for St Thomas Major Inter-diocesan Seminary in archdiocese of Bamenda

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 16 September 2005 appointed rector of St Thomas Major Inter-diocesan Seminary in the archdiocese of Bamenda Rev. Agapitus Nfon, of the diocesan clergy of Kumbo.
The new rector was born on 11 February 1964 at Shisong Hospital, diocese of Kumbo. After attending St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Djottin he went to Bishop Rogan College minor seminary at Soppo, Buea (1976/83), and then continued his studies at St Thomas Aquinas major seminary in Bambui, Bamenda (1983/90). He was ordained a priest on 22 March 1991 in Kumbo Cathedral and sent to Rome for higher studies at the Augustinianum institute and the pontifical Lateran University. He has been: assistant and parish priests in a number of parishes, Bishop’s secretary, headmaster of St. Augustine’s College, diocesan chaplain of the Catholic Women’s Association. Since 2001 Professor at St Thomas Aquinas major seminary in Bambui, member of the Council of Priests and the diocesan finance commission; since 2004 bursar at St Thomas Aquinas major seminary.
