Huamanga (Agenzia Fides) - The phenomenon of child labor continues to spread in the urban area of Huamanga, Peruvian province of the Ayacucho region, where 520 children work on the streets of the city every day. In order to combat child labor, the Provincial Town Hall, in co-ordination with the Advisory Council for Childhood and Adolescence (Cconna) and the Yachay Program of the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, launched the campaign "The road is not a place". The goal of this social campaign is to reduce the acceptance of the phenomenon and to ensure that the rights of children are respected within households. Most of the children working on the streets are exploited by the same family or people who should look after them. (AP) (7/6/2017 Agenzia Fides)
