Cucuta (Agenzia Fides) - A new transit home, significantly called "Divine Providence" was inaugurated on June 5 in the Colombian diocese of Cucuta, to help Venezuelans affected by the severe social, economic and political crisis. Every day thousands of people cross the border in search of food, medicine, and some support. With this new initiative, the Colombian diocese extends its service activities to support the Venezuelan population.
According to news sent to Fides, the structure is located near Saint Peter the Apostle Parish, in La Parada area, it has an area of over 1,500 square meters and with the help of apostolic movements, parish communities, universities and people of good will, about 500 people will be welcomed every day, where they will receive food, soup, water, spiritual and pastoral care, and other help.
"The diocese of Cucuta wants to live charity, this is a space at the service of brothers", said His Exc. Mgr. Victor Manuel Ochoa Cadavid, Bishop of Cúcuta, pointing out that all this is possible thanks to the solidarity of the people of the border area Colombia-Venezuela.
