Rome (Fides Service) - Sunday 27 November 1st Sunday of Advent will be a world day of prayer for the Great Lakes region of Africa (Burundi, Rwanda, DR. Congo). A day on which the Church is called to pray for peace in that travailed area where people are victims of unprecedented violence,often never revealed. The initiative is in response to a call by Archbishop Laurent Monsengwo Pasinya of Kisangani DR Congo and the Pax Christi Movement who drafted a paper of reflection and study. The Italian Bishops’ office for missionary cooperation among Churches has called on diocesan mission centres to pray for this finality promoting awareness among the faithful at the beginning of the new Liturgical Year considering that the season of Advent is a time of expectation and hope.
