Puno (Agenzia Fides) - The main cause of death among children for pneumonia is determined by the level of poverty that the population lives in addition to the poor diet of children. The alarm was launched by the director of the Department of Epidemiology of the Regional Directorate for Health of Puno who, in a note sent to Fides, stated that so far 9 children under 5 years of age have died of pneumonia. Death surveys have shown that the affected villages lack adequate infrastructure, poor hygiene, poor nutrition and low income. In addition, it was found that deaths are more common in commercial and agricultural areas of the plateau. (AP) (Agenzia Fides, 24/5/2017)
