San Cristobal de las Casas (Agenzia Fides) - "There is no need to spend so much money in political campaigns, but has to be destined to the needs of communities, like communications in Chiapas": asks the Bishop of the Diocese of San Cristobal de las Casas (Mexico), Mgr. Felipe Arizmendi Esquivel. In a publication of the archdiocese concerning the transport situation in the area, Mgr. Arizmendi involved all public transport workers to work together to solve the problems of the region, each according to their own possibilities. Therefore to drivers, for example, he asked for greater availability and to authorities, the awareness of the fact that without roads no country can develop.
"It is true that there are some municipalities with paved roads, but there are others which have been completely forgotten", notes Mgr. Arizmendi Esquivel in his note sent to Fides. The Bishop of Chiapas has asked the authorities that, for the well-being of communities in charge of administering taxes, money should be destined to rebuilding roads and not to political campaigns.
On June 4, 2017, municipal elections will take place in Coahuila, State of Mexico, Nayarit and Veracruz, in all 272 municipalities. In Chiapas thet will be held in 2018. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 15/05/2017)
