Quiché (Agenzia Fides) - The Quiché department in Guatemala was one of the areas most affected by a 36-year-long armed conflict (1960-1996) that resulted in the deaths of 200,000 people across the Country and the disappearance of 45,000 people, including 5,000 children. In this context, the "Road Film Festival" was recently held, with the aim of promoting some of the activities that are being carried out to support the disappearance of missing persons. This year's edition, according to information sent to Fides, was dedicated to minors who disappeared during the war to highlight the positive results of research (so far 894 children out of 5,000 have been found). In Guatemala, the armed conflict ended about twenty years ago. Unfortunately, there are still many families waiting for a response to the fate of their loved ones. (AP) (Agenzia Fides, 8/5/2017)
